Overview

Hwange National Park is located in the far west of Zimbabwe on the border of Botswana and is the largest park and protected area in the country at approximately 14 500 km² in size. The Park supports enormous species diversity and provides an authentic safari experience with an abundance of wildlife and fantastic birdlife.

Hwange National Park is situated on the eastern edge of the Kalahari Desert. The area is dry and water is scarce during the winter months, so there are a number of pumped waterholes to sustain the wildlife.

The wet summer months provide afternoon thunderstorms and the park is turned into a lush green haven. A variety of plains game, including blue wildebeest and zebra migrate here and give birth to their young during this time of year. Hwange is an important element to wildlife conservation in Southern Africa, as well as neighbouring countries like Botswana and Zambia.

Day 1 :

Transfer to Hwange National Park

Arrival, Hwange transfer and night Game drive

On arrival at the Victoria Falls, you will you will be transferred to Hwange Safari lodge (195km). This is a two and a half hours` drive and you will be at the lodge at 1300hrs (assuming you us air Zimbabwe which arrives in Vic Falls at 1030hrs) in time for Lunch. After check-in, you will have a few hours to relax before joining the afternoon game drive at 1500hrs which extends well into the night. You will be back at the Hotel at about 2000hrs in time for dinner

Day 2 :

Hwange National Park

Full day game viewing safari in Hwange National Park

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Hwange Main Camp for the full day safari. To maximise your change of game encounter we will make use of picnic lunch and sightings for such animals as the elephant, Zebra, hippo, giraffe lion and many more are not uncommon during the dry season. We will be back at the hotel around 1700hrs for a well-deserved dinner and rest.

Day 3 :

Victoria Falls Tour

Victoria Falls, Falls Tour, Sunset Boat Cruise and Dinner at the Boma Restaurant

We will depart for Victoria Falls in the morning (around 0800hrs after breakfast) to be well in time for the guided tour of the Victoria Falls and the Sunset boat cruise on the Zambezi river. The falls tour takes about 2 hours and will be done as soon as you arrive in Victoria Falls (around 1130hrs) and the cruise will be between 1600hrs at 1900hrs – includes snacks and lots of drinks

Dinner will be at the awards winning Boma Restaurant. The dinner is served buffet style with lots of traditional entertainment, participatory drumming shows and dancing.

Day 4 :

Optional Tours & Departure Transfer

Optional Tours in the Morning and Transfers to the Vic Falls Airport
You will have some free time for optional tours before your transfer to Victoria Falls airport
