Day 1

Meeting and assistance upon arrival and transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 2

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport to board your flight to Iquitos. Arrival in Iquitos, and meeting at the airport. Transfer to the operative offices in Iquitos where you will received useful orientation about the services in accord with your program. Afterwards, we will take you to the Bellavista Port, where we will use one of our speedboats to take you to the Heliconia Lodge along the Amazon River. During this boat ride, you will have the opportunity to observe the convergence of the brown turbid waters of the Amazon River with the dark waters of the Nanay River. You will enjoy the impressive jungle landscapes with the rustic small houses of the riverside towns. A visit to a native community is including at this part of the boat ride to the Lodge. In this community, we will have the opportunity to hear about their way of life and to see their customs, dances and handcrafts. After 1:30 hrs. Boat ride we will arrive to the Lodge where our staff will welcome you with a complimentary and exotic jungle drink. Lunch.
In the afternoon, we will start with our first excursion: a jungle hike into the Yanamono Reserve (Considered as a primary rainforest reserve). For approximately 2 hours accompanied by our expert guides, they will be able to identify several botanical species such as heliconia flowers, medicinal plants and giant trees such as the White silk-cotton tree (Ceiba Pentandra) whose dimensions are so big that 25 persons can circle it holding their hands. During this excursion you will also see several birds species such as the Turkey Vulture (Cathartes Aura), Black Fronted Nanbird (Monasa-Atia), etc., and with a little luck you will be able to see small monkeys such as marmosets (saguinus fusicollis) , and the Titi Monkey (Callicebus Mollock Mollock) and the squirrel monkey (Saimiri Boliviense). Return to the lodge for rest. Free time. After observing the Amazon Sunset, we will take a night boat ride to a stream, if the river is high enough, or along the Amazon River where you will enjoy the magical sounds of the jungle, the light of the moon or, if it is a clear night, you will observe the stars and constellations. Dinner.

Day 3

Early bird watching. We will start very early going by boat to one of the several streams (if the water level allows us). We will be looking for birds such as the Tuki (Jacana Jacana), Ringed Kingfisher (Ceryle-Torquata), Black-Collared Hawk (Busarellus nigricollis), etc. Return to the lodge, where a delicious breakfast will be waiting for you.

After a little rest, we will take a small fishing trip into small tributaries of the Amazon River. The most daring can try for fishing Piranhas. During this excursion, you can also have the opportunity to look for the famous Pink River Dolphin (Inia Geoffrensis). Return to the Lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will also be able to see the very impressive giant Victoria Regia plant (Giant Water Lily) on the lakes inside the Yanamono Island (if the water allows us). At night, the adventurers can take a hike around the perimeter of the Lodge to look for tarantulas, fireflies, bats and other jungle nocturnal animals. Dinner.

Day 4

After breakfast, we will visit a rustic sugar cane distillery where you can try different exotic beverages made from sugar cane liquor and you will see how they use horses in the process of obtaining this liquor. Return to the Lodge. After Lunch, transfer to Iquitos City and according with your flight schedule, transfer to the airport for your departing flight to Lima. Meeting and assistance upon arrival and transfer to your hotel.

Day 5

Breakfast. At the proper time, transfer to the airport for your departing flight to Cusco. Arrival in Cusco, reception and transfer to the Hotel. Welcome Coca tea. Free time to adjust to the altitude. In the afternoon, enjoy a tour of Cusco, the former capital city of the four regions that formed the Inca Empire. The tour includes highlights of the Colonial city such as the Cathedral, the Q’oricancha – an amazing example of the fusion of Incan and Western cultures that was one of the most important temples in Incas Empire – the Plaza de Armas and visit to the Inca ruins of Tambomachay, Kenko, Puca-Pucara and Sacsayhuaman’s gigantic zigzag-walled fortress. Overnight.

Day 6

Breakfast included at your hotel. Today you will enjoy a tour to the Sacred Valley. The picturesque landscape of the Urubamba Valley to the town of Pisac, where you will enjoy some time at the colorful market of Pisac, with time to visit the stands filled with local handicrafts. As you explore you will have opportunities to meet the local people selling their merchandise, as their families have done for many centuries. Leaving Pisac you will continue to the town of Ollantaytambo where you will climb to the ruins of an Inca fortress resting on a hilltop. Lunch is included today, enjoyed at a local restaurant. Transfer to your hotel for overnight at the Sacred Valley.

Day 7

Breakfast included at your hotel. Visit to an Andean Community, vestige of the Incan civilization in the Sacred Valley, where their culture, social organization system, ancestral practices of organic agricultural production and the shepherding of alpacas and llamas. You will receive by farming families of the community, with whom you will have a chance to talk, share their roof and enjoy the typical local gastronomy. Discover their communal organizational system, participate in traditional farming activities and visit the women weavers. Return to the hotel and overnight.

Day 8

Transfer to Ollanta train station. Today we will set off by train for Machu Picchu. The train passes through the Sacred Valley. The single line track hugs the right side of the canyon next to the boulder-strewn, roaring Urubamba River. Arrive at the small town of Aguas Calientes, and then a 30-minute bus ride up to Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu, an Inca city with a maze of fine stone temples, houses and fountains, spectacularly situated on a ridge between two peaks. Hidden by dense vegetation when Hiram Bingham discovered it in 1911. We include a guided tour. In the afternoon lunch and return to Cusco by train. Transfer to your hotel. Overnight.

Day 9

Breakfast. Transfer to the bus station. We take an all-day bus from Cusco to Puno. The route is scenically stunning, and there are stops at cultural sites such as Pikillaqta, the baroque church at Andahuaylillas, the Temple to Viracocha at Racqchi. Lunch at Sicuani. The bus climbs to the high pass of La Raya, at 4,200 meters, from here the scenery changes dramatically. Arrival in Puno, reception and transfer to the hotel. Welcome Coca tea. Acclimatization. Overnight.

Day 10

Breakfast. In the morning, we take a short boat ride to visit the Uros Islands, the famous floating reed islands of Lake Titacaca. A unique feature of this part of the lake is the traditional settlement of Uros people on floating islands made entirely of reeds-the same material they use to build their canoes. The islanders also use totora reeds to make boats, and even as food.

Although fishing is still an important activity, nowadays the inhabitants earn their living mainly through selling handicrafts to tourists. After Uros, we continue the journey to the Peninsula in Capachica Llachon community; we can appreciate the landscape of the area and the inhabitants, with their typical costumes and rustic houses. A family will welcome us into their house; we will have the opportunity to enjoy a consistent culture, textiles and everyday activities that will prepare very glad commoners. Lunch will also host family. Return to Puno and Overnight.

Day 11

Breakfast at the hotel. At the proper time transfer to Juliaca Airport for your departing flight to Lima. On route to the airport, we will visit Sillustani tombs.
This is an excursion to the haunting ruins Sillustani – giant funeral towers used during pre- and Inca times to bury the wealthy, which overlook alpaca pastures and the tranquil lagoon of Umayo. Transfer to the airport for your departure flight to Lima. Arrival in Lima, reception and transfer to the hotel.

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport to board your next international flight.
