Ascending through the western wall of the Great Rift Valley floor, we reach arguably Kenya’s most celebrated natural attraction-The Masai Mara game reserve. A 1,500 sq. km slab of open Savannah dotted with acacia trees-the Kenyan section of the wildly beautiful Serengeti plains, teems with wildlife. Being in the Mara has been described by some authorities as ‘’ being in the New York of the natural world’’
You will spend the next 02 nights here to explore.

The endless plains of East Africa are the setting of the World’s greatest spectacle-the pounding of over 6 million hooves! From the vast Serengeti plains to the Champagne coloured hills of Kenya’s Masai Mara.

Over 1 million wildebeest, 300,000 Thompson gazelles and some 200,000 zebras relentlessly tracked by Africa’s greatest predators, migrate in a clockwise fashion over 1,800 miles each year in search of green pastures.
This continual perilous trek in search of nature’s big green carpet involves no beginning or end to a wildebeest journey. Its life is an endless pilgrimage, a continual search of food, water and pasture. The only beginning is at birth.

An estimated 400,000 wildebeest calves are born during a six week period early each year-usually between late January and Mid March. As for when to see this annual event, consider December to March (Serengeti) and July to October (Masai Mara)

The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe: over 450 species of animals have been recorded here.

Lunch will be followed by an early evening introductory game drive in the reserve from 1630hrs- dusk! Dinner and overnight at Sarova Mara Camp /KEEKOROK LODGE/ Similar- Meal Plan (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

OPTIONAL EXTRA COST Pre game drive balloon Safari (bookable in advance $ 475 pp)

The feeling is indescribable, crispness of the African air, chill in the wind that hits your face as your Mara hot air balloon gradually rises, smoothness in the exhale of your breath, and the excitement to see and learn more. One's physical presence can be felt on the plains of the Masai Mara when reading this.

Pick up at 4.30am depending on the lodge/camp of stay.

By 6.15 a.m. you are almost arriving at the hot air balloon site in the Masai Mara. As you approach the site, the balloon seems bigger than you expected, the experience is one that has never been visited, and you are about to have a trip of a lifetime.

Up and away we go! At 6.30 a.m., the hot air balloon safari starts. The captain asks you to relax and experience the wonders under the African sky. As you finally start to get a grip on the elevation, an inner smile that resonates on one's face does not need an explanation. The wildebeest moving in large numbers across the Masai Mara plains, the beauty of the landscape when the rising sun's bright orange colors are displayed, the elephants at the water pool, and the gazelles and zebras scampering away, just if it was their first time to witness an alien object in the sky.

By 7.30 a.m., one is very content with balloon safari, and it is almost touch down time. There is a celebration, and for those who prefer a toast, champagne is served, as hot breakfast in the bush is being prepared.

The direction and duration of the balloon trip is dependent on the prevailing weather conditions. Optional balloon trips take the place of the morning game drive.

Please note that ballooning is subject to weather conditions. Children below 12 years are NOT permitted!
You have to try it to believe it! This is one of the most memorable things in life

Morning and afternoon game drive/ full day game drive with picnic lunches, explore the reserves’ amazingly high concentration of game. This game reserve is Kenya's finest wildlife sanctuary. The famous Maasai tribesmen live within the dispersal area of the game reserve. Overnight at the Lodge - Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
