Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro airport you will be welcomed by an Africa Tried and Tested representative, who will transfer you to MOUNT MERU GAME LODGE AND SANCTUARY – a rustic outdoor lodge roughly halfway between the airport and Arusha. As the name suggests, there is a wildlife sanctuary on the same property as the lodge, and your first sightings of zebra, eland and other wildlife will be from the lodge restaurant. Overnight based on bed & breakfast accommodation.
After breakfast the safari begins. Your 4×4 game drive vehicle will collect you and the drive to Tarangire National Park is around 2 hours, passing through a vibrant Arusha on the way. Tarangire National Park lies about 120 kilometers south of Arusha and is one Africa´s little known gems. Game viewing in Tarangire is largely affected by the presence of water, and during the dry season many animals congregate at the Tarangire River. The park is also known for its great birdlife diversity, in which it is surpassed only by Lake Manyara. Lunch will be served at TARANGIRE SOPA LODGE. After lunch enjoy an afternoon game drive in Tarangire National park. Dinner and overnight at Tarangire Sopa Lodge.
Enjoy your morning coffee and then a morning game drive in Tarangire National Park. Take breakfast with you and watch wild Africa wake up in the park or enjoy your breakfast at the lodge before leaving. After a morning game drive, it’s back to Tarangire Sopa Lodge for a delicious lunch, swim, afternoon nap and then another game drive in the late afternoon. It’s your safari, so with the help of your driver guide, you make your own choices. Dinner and overnight at Tarangire Sopa Lodge.
Today you will go through two of the world’s renowned wildlife conservation areas – the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and also the Serengeti National Park. Heading out of Tarangire, you first enter Ngorongoro and after driving around the rim of this amazing caldera, the plains of the Serengeti await. It is a fair distance and a lunchbox will be prepared for you to take on the way. The scenery changes constantly and in the late afternoon the staff from SERENGETI SOPA LODGE will welcome you “home”. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Sopa lodge.
A full day spent in the fabulous Serengeti – it’s here that your driver guide will try and find the annual migration of wildebeest which Tanzania and Kenya are famous for. It is a totally natural phenomenon though so nature will dictate their movements. Depending on where the migration is will dictate your wake up time, and the plans for the day. For lunch you can either go back to the lodge or bring a picnic box and enjoy your lunch at one of the picnic spots in the park. After lunch your adventure continues. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Sopa lodge.
From the endless plains of the Serengeti you will descend to Lake Manyara National Park for a gamedrive in the Manyara. Lunch box in the park and stay overnight at LAKE MANYARA SERENA SAFARI LODGE with beautiful view over the lake. Manyara National Park is a small park, but has it’s own beauty compared to the other National Parks. First you enter a forest and end up with a view over Manyara Lake. If you are lucky you will see the hippos in the lake. Dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge.
From the thrill of safari life, it’s time to head for the beautiful beaches of Zanzibar. Enjoy a scenic game drive from Serengeti Sopa Lode to Seronera airstrip from where your flight leaves for Zanzibar. A couple hours flight takes you to Stone Town with its small alley ways, curio shops and delicious dishes made on “The Spice Island” A driver will meet you at Zanzibar airport and take you to SWAHILI HOUSE located in the middle of Stone Town. Overnight at Swahili House, bed & breakfast accommodation.
Enjoy the morning walking around Stone Town and then your driver will collect you from Swahili House and after approximately 1 hours you will arrive at DONGWE OCEAN VIEW HOTEL. Dongwe beach is located along the South East coast of Zanzibar where you can find one of the most beautiful beaches of the Island. Settle in and enjoy white sandy beaches and blue oceans with glorious sunsets, traditional dhows and relax in style. Dinner and overnight at Dongwe Ocean View hotel.
Zanzibar is not known as the Spice Island for nothing, and one of the (optional) extras you can do is the “Spice Tour” – a fascinating tour with a local guide who can explain the uses (cooking and medicinal) for various spices and herbs grown on Zanzibar. This is an interesting and enjoyable way of spending a morning before returning to Dongwe beach to relax or possibly a sunset cruise on a traditional dhow. Dinner and overnight at Dongwe Ocean View hotel.
Today your holiday unfortunately comes to an end. A driver will collect you from Dongwe beach, and take you back to Zanzibar airport. Have a lunch in Stone Town before boarding your flight back home from Zanzibar.
