09 NIGHTS 10 DAYS AMBOSELI-OL PEJETA- ABERDARES-LK. NAIVASHA & MASAI MARA

Itinerary

Met on arrival and then after a Karibu Kenya welcome ceremony we drive east to Amboseli, arriving by noon. Sometime to relax in the pool overlooking Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest free standing mountain in the world and by evening we set out on a game drive. Dinner and overnight at Kibo Luxury Safari Camp (B,L)

Full day in Amboseli with morning and evening game drives. Amboseli is famous for its herds of Elephants, because it is large enough for them to graze. Any area smaller than this, is stressful to the elephant because they will then trample, uproot and destroy the vegetation. The area is a combination of swampy springs and dry/dusty mud. It has an underground water supply that is filtered through volcanic rock from Mt. Kilimanjaro’s ice cap that leads to the creation of two clear water springs in the park. A post lunch game drive completes our safari of this unique and extensive ecosystem that spreads over 02 counties. Overnight at our Kibo Safari Camp. (B,L,D)

We drive back to Nairobi. Lunch followed by a walking tour of Downtown Nairobi. Some time to relax before the evening, African Cats Acrobatic and Dance Show with dinner. Transfer back to our Park Inn hotel for the night. (B,L,D)

After breakfast we drive to the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Home to all the BIG 5, the conservancy has the largest wildlife to area ratio compared to any other Kenyan National Park. It also houses the only Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Kenya and the largest Black Rhino Sanctuary in East Africa. We visit these during our game drive. Check in followed by lunch. We laze and gaze at the animals that come to drink at the waterhole located just opposite our tent and by evening we head out on a game drive. Back before it gets dark for dinner and overnight at Serena Sweet Waters Tented Camp. (B,L,D)

After breakfast, an hour’s drive to cross the Equator where we experience the Coriolis Effect on either side of the earth’s hemisphere. Arrive by noon at Aberdare National Park. Post lunch we enter the park, rest of the day is spent viewing animals from our rooms or from the viewing deck. Dinner and overnight at The Ark. (B,L,D)

Drive to Lake Naivasha arriving by noon. Lunch followed by a boat ride along the lake that is home to more than 150 different birds, from the predatory Fish Eagle to the Glossy Startling. Back to our lodge before the hippos step out. Overnight is at Lake Naivasha Simba Lodge. (B,L,D)

Leave after breakfast for Masai Mara. We drive along the country side and reach a place called Narok. This is the last town for the urbanized Masai, before we enter
the bush. Post lunch we begin our evening game drive. We later visit a Masai Village to see how they live, make fire and celebrate. Overnight at our Mara Simba Lodge. (FB)

Full days game drive with a picnic lunch in the bush. Today we cover a large area of the Reserve right from the Mara River and along the Migration Route, right up to the Tanzanian border. Back before it gets dark for dinner and overnight at our Mara Simba Lodge. (B,L,D)

Pace yourself today to explore other areas of Masai Mara with an early morning 0630 a.m. game drive. This is when the predators are hungry and you are most likely to see a kill. Beat the ‘jua kali’ (hot sun) with a dip in the pool. By this evening’s game drive, you will have seen and spotted the BIG 5 with a wide range of rare animals and birds that are unique to Africa. A feeling of belonging to the beautiful Savannah grows as we head back to our Mara Simba Lodge. (B,L,D)

Drive back to Nairobi reminiscing on the last 09 nights spent in Kenya. Head to the airport in good time for our evening departure. Lunch is outside the airport terminal building, at Java Coffee House. Check in and take off with fond memories of Kenya and with a promise to visit this magical country again. (B,L)
