Riverstrees Inn Arusha

Itinerary

Day 1
Rivertrees Country Inn, Arusha

Your international flight will draw to a close today as you descend over Tanzania, with spectacular views of the snow-capped peaks of Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. You will touch down at Kilimanjaro International Airport at the base of the 15,000-foot Mount Meru. Upon clearing customs and collecting your baggage, a representative will meet you and your family in arrivals. We will transfer you out to the city and towards the lush and colourful River trees Country Inn. This first stop will be the perfect place to stretch your legs and unwind before the adventure really begins.

Arusha
Arusha is the safari capital of Tanzania located at the foot of Mt. Meru, close to Mount Kilimanjaro, the Manyara, Tarangire and Ngorongoro National Parks. From there it’s only a short trip to the Serengeti. Just to the north, on the slopes of Mt. Meru is the Arusha National Park.
Built by the Germans as a centre of colonial administration because of the temperate climate, Arusha is a good spot to take a day or two off from your safari.

Overnight: Rivertrees Country Inn
Rivertrees, nestled between Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru, in natural gardens along the Usa River. Combining old world ambiance, African country elegance, excellent farm cuisine, personal service and a genuine warmth from your hosts – Rivertrees is simply a magical place to stay. Whether you are travelling on business or looking for a place to start your holiday adventure, our charming old farm house is your ideal base. It is the perfect choice of accommodation for the visitor looking for peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of a city hotel. We are located near the village of Usa-River, a twenty-minute drive from Arusha along the Moshi Road. Kilimanjaro Airport is a mere twenty minutes away with daily connections to Europe and beyond.

Day 2
Maramboi Tented Camp, Tarangire National Park

The morning will be at leisure at the lodge, a little time to relax after the jetlag from the long flight.
Enjoy an early lunch at the lodge and after lunch, we will have an OPTION to pay a visit to an orphanage that our Tanzania Safari supports. The children love to have international visitors and flourish with the extra attention from our clients. Alternatively, you may have a relaxing time at the lodge and begin your drive to Tarangire in the mid afternoon.
During the day, the older children attend school while the younger ones are taught at the orphanage. We can help with the running of activities, helping with homework, playing with the children and helping with the cooking and cleaning required to look after all of the children for a few hours before starting our safari to Tarangire National Park in the later afternoon.

Central Serengeti
The Serengeti together with Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Park form Africa’s most famous wildlife park. The image of acacia trees on an endless grass plain epitomises Africa for many, and then add a Masai warrior and some cattle to the picture and the conversation need go no further.
The annual wildebeest migration through the Serengeti and the Masai Mara is the largest mass movement of land mammals on the planet – with more than a million animals following the rains. But that is not where the game viewing ends; large prides of lions, elephants and giraffes in grasslands, gazelles and eland to mention but a few. Aside from traditional vehicle safaris, hot-air ballooning over the Serengeti plains has become almost.

Day 5
KubuKubu Tented Lodge, Central Serengeti

After breakfast, set out on a morning game drive. Lions survey their kingdom from kopjes (rocky outcroppings) where prides rest and decide what should be on the dinner menu. Cheetahs accelerate across the plains, leaving a dusty trail behind as they move at phenomenal speeds. A kill can happen in an instant. Sometimes it comes from nowhere, like when you’re watching a wildebeest herd and a leopard pounces from its camouflaged hiding place. At other times tension runs high, fearful gazelle anticipating trouble but unable to locate the cause. You can see hunter and prey, and as the cat approaches a silence accompanies the scene. A ferocious pounce draws gasps from the safari truck, but the zebra got away…this time.
Throughout your time in the Serengeti, your guide will take you to the best wildlife viewing spots. Dependent on the time of year, they will try and track the Great Migration and give you best views to the phenomenal herds of wildebeest that cover the plains. Throughout the park there are special sights and your guides will tailor each game drive dependent on your interests.
